Sydney country rockers Copperline joined the winners circles at the 2023 Australian Songwriters Awards, with their moving and heartfelt song Lucinda taking home the award for best ballad.
Penned by frontman Brad Christmas, the song is a poignant tribute to the much-loved daughter he lost far too early.
I wanted to write I song I could sing to her, wherever she is now, to let her know she’s loved and thought about every day, and will never be forgotten.
Copperline were in elite company on the night, with the Bee Gee’s Barry Gibbs and Hoodoo Gurus Dave Faulkner inducted into the songwriters hall of fame on the night.
Drummer Gareth Richards was in attendance on the night to accept the awards and rub shoulders with Australian songwriting royalty.
